LeiaPix Converter: What Happened, and How to Make 3D Photos Now

Short answer: LeiaPix, the popular tool for turning photos into moving 3D images, is now called Immersity AI. If you were looking for LeiaPix to make 3D photos, you can still use Immersity in a browser. If you want real 3D photos you can watch on Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest, made on your own iPhone, iPad or Mac, Spatial Media Toolkit is an alternative.
What happened to LeiaPix?
LeiaPix was made by Leia, a company that builds 3D display technology. It took an ordinary photo, estimated its depth, and turned it into a 3D animation that seemed to move as the camera swept across the scene. The product was renamed Immersity AI, which is why searches for "LeiaPix converter" no longer land on a LeiaPix site.
Two kinds of "3D photo"
It helps to know which one you're after:
- 3D motion effect: a flat video where the camera seems to move through the photo. Good for social posts; it plays on any screen.
- Stereo 3D photo: two images, one per eye, that show real depth in a headset, on 3D glasses, or as an Apple spatial photo on Vision Pro.
Spatial Media Toolkit makes both kinds: stereo 3D photos for headsets, and a Wiggle animation that gives a 3D effect on any screen.
Making 3D photos with Spatial Media Toolkit
- Add photos from Photos or Files, or drag them in. Batches are fine.
- Pick an output:
- Apple Spatial for Apple Vision Pro
- Side by side stereo for Meta Quest and other headsets
- Anaglyph for red-cyan 3D glasses
- Wiggle for a looping 3D animation you can share anywhere
- Adjust the depth and check the preview.
- Save to Photos or Files.
Depth estimation runs on your device, so your photos aren't uploaded for conversion. On a Mac, AI conversion needs Apple silicon.
